The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has announced major changes for students appearing in the 2026 examinations. These reforms are aimed at improving academic standards and shifting the focus from marks-based competition to overall student performance.

One of the biggest changes is the increase in passing marks. Previously, students needed 33% marks in a subject to pass. Starting from the 2026 annual examinations, the minimum passing requirement has been increased to 40%. This means students will need stronger subject knowledge and better preparation to successfully clear their exams.

FBISE has also introduced a new 10-level grading system. Under the revised framework, students will be assessed through grades ranging from A++ to D, providing a more detailed evaluation of academic performance. The new system is designed to reduce the pressure of chasing marks and encourage conceptual learning.
