The Government of Pakistan, under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), has officially launched Phase 4 of the national laptop scheme. This phase aims to distribute free, high-specification laptops to talented students in public sector universities and government colleges across the country to support digital learning, freelancing, and research.
Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for a laptop in Phase 4, students must meet the following requirements:
- Institution: Must be enrolled in a Public Sector University or an accredited government college listed on the HEC portal.
- Academic Level: Open to undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students.
- Merit: Selection is purely based on academic performance (latest CGPA/Percentage).
- Exclusion: Students who have previously received a laptop under any government scheme are not eligible.
- Special Quota: A dedicated percentage of laptops is reserved for students with disabilities.
Step-by-Step Registration Process
The registration process is entirely online and free of cost. Follow these steps to submit your application:
Step 1: Initial Access
- Visit the official PM Youth Program portal at pmyp.gov.pk or laptop.pmyp.gov.pk.
- Click on the “Apply Now” button under the Laptop Scheme section.
Step 2: Verification
- Enter your CNIC or B-Form number.
- Complete the Captcha and click “Submit”.
- Accept the Terms and Conditions to proceed to the main form.
Step 3: Completing the Form
The application is divided into three critical sections:
- Personal Information: Enter your full name, father’s name, date of birth, gender, and permanent address exactly as they appear on your CNIC.
- Academic Information: Select your university, campus, department, and degree level. You must provide your University Enrollment/Registration Number, date of admission, and your most recent CGPA or percentage.
- Contact Information: Enter an active mobile number and a valid email address. You will receive an OTP (One-Time Password) via email that must be entered to verify your account before final submission.
Step 4: Submission & Tracking
- Review all entered data carefully—incorrect information can lead to immediate disqualification.
- Click “Submit”. You will receive an Application ID to track your status on the portal.
Required Documents for Verification
If you are selected on the merit list, you will need to provide the following to your university’s focal person:
- Original CNIC or B-Form.
- Latest academic transcript or result card (signed by the Controller).
- Valid University ID Card.
- Two passport-sized photographs.
